A Guardia Civil officer is in a serious condition in hospital following a boating accident off the Nerja coast.
The incident occurred at 17:30 near Torrecilla beach when the officer, who was off duty at the time, was in a boat with several colleagues. The officers were attached to the Grupo Rural de Seguridad (GRS) in Zaragoza and had earlier been attending an event in Almuñecar.
For reasons as yet unknown, the officer fell from the boat. He was then struck by the propeller which caused serious cuts and injuries to his abdomen, legs and thorax.
he was rushed to the Hospital Carlos Haya in Málaga where emergency surgery was carried out. His condition is described as ‘very serious’.
