Debt forces postponement of opening of new judicial complex in Vélez-Málaga

The opening of the new law courts in Vélez-Málaga has been postponed due to a €2 million debt owed by the Ministry of Justice and Junta de Andalucía to the electricity company Endesa.

The new judicial complex, a €5.5 million project, was originally scheduled to be completed last year but, as invariably happens, there were delays.

The transfer of offices and staff was then set for July of this year, but the debt owed by the Ministry of Justice and Junta de Andalucía, which relates to the whole of the region, not just Vélez-Málaga, means that the official opening has had to be rescheduled until ‘after the summer’.
