200 Spanish troops leave for Beirut

Around 200 Spanish soldiers headed out to the Lebanon yesterday, Saturday, the first of five groups aimed at establishing a military presence of 1,100 in the country.

The soldiers flew out from Madrid-Barajas with a stopover in Sevilla where some 100 family members gathered to bid farewell to their loved ones.

The new contingent of 1,100 soldiers is mostly from members of the Brigada de Infantería Mecanizada (Mechanised Infantry Brigade), or BRIMZ X, based in Cerro Muriano, Córdoba.
