Matador José Pedro Prados ‘El Fundi’ is in a serious condition in the Hospital Donostia in San Sebastián after being gored by a bull.
El Fundi was in the final phase of his session when the bull turned suddenly, catching the matador unawares and launching him into the air. While El Fundi lay motionless on the ground, the bull gored him in the scrotum. His other injuries include a fracture at the base of the skull and bleeding from one ear.
The matador was conscious when he arrived at the hospital and responded to stimuli although he has suffered what is thought be a temporary loss of mobility. Doctors believe the next 48 hours will be the critical phase but say it is still too early to say whether El Fundi has suffered any brain damage.
