Friday sees the XVII Media Legua Playa de Burriana, a strange sort of race over sand and beach obstacles but one which attracts a lot of competitors from all over Andalucía.
Around 200 athletes took part in last year’s event. The race is in honour of Nerja’s first athlete, Francisco Ortega, better known as ‘Ayo’.
The first race starts at 19:00 and there are various categories from toddlers to veterans, each group racing over a different, and appropriate distance.
