A 46 year old woman died yesterday morning at the Hospital Clínico Universitario in Málaga as a direct result of infection with the Influenza A virus, that is to say there were no prior pathological illnesses involved.
The woman had been in the ICU at the Hospital Clínico Universitario for a month and had developed pneumonia. Attempts to fight the virus with drugs all failed.
This is the third Influenza A fatality in Málaga province and the first where the virus was the direct cause of death.
