The Asociación Contra el Silencio y el Olvido y por la Recuperación de la Memoria Histórica de Málaga has carried out the first exhumations of Civil War graves in the Axarquia.
This took place at an existing cemetery in Alfarnatejo where the bodies of three people executed after the Civil War were known to reside. The three bodies are those of a 19 year old boy from Riogordo, a 39 year old police officer from Málaga and a 52 year old police officer from Alfarnatejo.
The bodies, however, cannot be removed until all the necessary paperwork has been completed and approved, although this has been ‘in progress’ for some time.
