Ronda Council to buy two apartment blocks for use by disadvantaged families

Ronda Council is to buy two blocks of flats in order to provide accommodation for disadvantaged families in extreme circumstances.

The flats, two blocks in two different areas of the town, will be available free of charge to those deemed in need, such as families who can’t even access VPO housing, only the electric and water bills having to be paid.

Neither block has business premises on the ground floor, making them suitable for those with disabilities. The Council will take over the mortgages on these properties, negotiating a financing deal with Unicaja.

A special Social Affairs committee will oversee the properties and determine which families qualify for such assistance and for how long. They will also constantly monitor the situation with regard to changes in financial situations of eligible families in an attempt to prevent abuse of the system.
