Real Madrid managed to salvage a little bit of pride, although not much, with a 1-0 victory over Alorcon in the second leg of their Copa del Rey match, but still lost 1-4 on aggregate to the third division side and crash out.
Rafael van der Vaart scored the only goal of the match and that was quite late in the game, the 81st minute. Real also lost to minnows last year.
The loss puts more pressure on manager Pellegrini, Real’s eighth manage in five years, but the club director, Jorge Valdano, still insists that Pellegrini will see out the season regardless of results.
