And here is an empty field…

It seems to be the same the world over. Why do politicians believe that we need, or even want, to see fresh (expensive) photos of them posing in empty fields, wearing wellies in a puddle if it rains and any number of other equally bizarre scenarios?

Does this picture, for example, actually tell us anything? Apart from the fact that we can see for ourselves that the construction of the Fire Station is at the same stage it was a year ago, or even two years ago.

A standard ‘mugshot’ for such non-events would be a much more economical solution. Some politicians even take along their own personal publicity photographer as well as the official photographer, both paid for by the taxpayer. Not in Nerja, fortunately.

Similar in a way to the BBC’s ‘live’ aerial footage of a tree in the Tiger Woods incident.
