A fire last night destroyed an area of scrub in the Sierra de Tejeda y Almijara near the small town of Sedella.
The fire, at an altitude of 1,500 metres, began at 18:30 and was finally extinguished at 06:00 this morning. Fortunately the wind in the area was light as another 200 metres and the fire would have reached a forest area and the damage would have been far more serious.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
