Sevilla taxis plan more strike action

Taxi drivers in Sevilla are planning more strike action and demonstrations in December and again in January 2010 if there is no progress in resolving their dispute.

Protests are planned for December 18th and December 21st and then a series of stoppages are expected from January 1st 2010 onwards.

The president of the Solidaridad Hispalense del Taxi has already applied for the necessary permits to hold demonstrations on December 18th and December 21st, both of which are expected to start at 10:00 from the Santa Justa railway station.

The outward route of the protest is: calle Luis de Morales,  San Francisco Javier, Diego Martínez Barrios, Cardenal Bueno Monreal,  avenida de la Palmera, Paseo de las Delicias, Paseo de Colón, Reyes  Católicos, Zaragoza and arriving at Plaza Nueva at around 15:00.

The protesters will return along the route: Méndez Núñez,  Canalejas, Marqués de Paradas, Torneo, Resolana, Ronda de Capuchinos,  María Auxiliadora y José Laguillo and back to Santa Justa, arriving at around 19:00.

There will be a 60% coverage of basic services so as not to totally inconvenience the general public.
