Eighty-one year old Isabel Ramos, well-known in the Málaga neighbourhood of El Ejido, enjoyed her daily walks and would often run errands for others, and yesterday was no exception. However, on this occasion, tragedy was to strike.
Just before noon, Isabel turned into calle Paco Miranda and as she walked along the pavement she was hit by a woman who plunged from the eighth floor of an apartment block.
Isabel died almost instantly. The other woman, Lola, a 21 year old with emotional problems, suffered a broken ankle, ribs, elbow and various other injuries. After medics and police stabilised her condition she was transferred to the Carlos Haya hospital where she underwent surgery.
It is not yet known whether Lola was attempting to commit suicide or just fell.
