Rafael ‘Rafita’ Fernández García, a 21 year old who, as a minor, was convicted of the murder of a youth in Getafe, is once again in custody, this time for car theft.
Rafita was sentenced as a minor for the abduction, rape and murder of Sandra Palo. On Thursday morning, he was recognised as one of several people trying to steal a BMW in the Hortaleza district of Madrid.
At the time of the incident, police managed to arrest Eduardo ‘Bubu’ García Fernández, the brother of Rafita who legally changed his name. Bubu, who lives with his family in Alcorcón, is 24 years old and has 24 prior arrests. He and brother Rafita began their life of crime at an early age.
Both brothers were arrested in January after trying to steal a car in calle Clarinetes, Madrid.
The police obtained a search warrant after the latest incident and Rafita was arrested near his home in Alcorcón.
