Residents of a housing estate in Sanlúcar de Barrameda are more than a little concerned after the recent rains exposed the underside of the apartment block to reveal that there are no concrete foundations.
The hill on which the block stands is beginning to crumble and threatens to demolish the block. Residents report hearing water flowing beneath the block, the flow dragging the earth away underneath them.
An expert from the builder of the block has apparently assured the residents there is no danger but they do not believe him because there are cracks in the building and sunken land all around.
Police and firefighters have sealed the area around the block in Urbanisation Albatros Golf but have been unable to persuade several families to move as they claim to have nowhere else to go.
The block, predominantly for second homes, was only built four years ago.
