After three years hard work, the Ministry of Justice and the Mayor of Málaga have submitted a 3,800 page report detailing the remains of Civil War victims discovered in the San Rafael cemetery.

The exhumations have lasted three years and the University now has the task of identifying the remains of 2,840 people found in 30 mass graves.

Around 4,500 people were executed in San Rafael cemetery by Franco forces in the period 1936 to 1957, some of them removed to other burial sites.

The ages of the victims is generally between 20 years and 40 years, although the remains of around 400 children have also been found, mostly sons of Republicans.
