The best surfers in Málaga province meet in Benajarafe on April 10th and 11th to participate in the third edition of the Campeonato Provincial de Surf ‘Punta Arena’ (Provincial Champoionships) organised by Backside, Chily Surf Shops with the support of Vélez-Málaga Council and El Club de las Olas.
Surfers from Málaga, Granada, Sevilla and Cádiz are expected to participate and there is prize money of €2,000 on offer.
There are two categories, bodyboarding and surfing, and there will be a women’s section provided the minimum number of people enrol for the tournament.
The registration fee is €15 and can be carried out in the participating establishments or by calling 952 505 347 or951 010 928.
Should bad weather intervene on the specific days set aside for the championship, the competition will remain ‘open’ until late August and any suitable weekend or holiday period during that time will be used to complete the event.
