People are becoming well used to the arrival of bogus gas inspectors in town but a new scam appears to have started, this time relating to water and targeting the elderly.
A phone call is received from someone claiming to be from the Nerja Water Company (Aguas de Narixa) and the caller asks the ages of the people living in the house.
The caller then says they can carry out the free installation of a water saving device. Once inside a home and having installed the (dubious) device, they then demand money for the service.
Aguas de Narixa are not carrying out any sort of campaign in relation to water saving devices and anyone who gets a call, or a visit, should contact the water company or the Local Police or even the Guardia Civil.
