Farmers object to development project in Torrox Costa

Around one hundred agricultural landowners in the Mascuñar area of Torrox Costa are objecting to plans to reclassify more than 700,000 square metres of land as developable and upon which could be build over 700 houses, hotels and sports facilities.

The lands in question are listed as a Tourist Opportunity Area under the POTA, approved by the Junta de Andalucia in 2005.

The current project was launched after a request by the majority landowner Sociedad Azucarera Larios S. A. (Salsa) which owns 40% of the land in this sector.
