Frigiliana Council has given the green light to a plan to privatise the water service in the town and bids will now be invited for the contract.
The award will be for 25 years and the starting price is €600,000. The PP and PSOE, both of whom voted against the motion proposed by the ruling PA, have criticised the decision to privatise the water company, stating that it is a harmful way of covering up a bad economic situation.
The privatisation of the water companies has been occurring in a number of municipalities.
