Criticism over the placing of marker buoys

The marker buoys are expected to be placed along the Nerja coastline during the next few days but the Councillor for Beaches, Jonathan Méndez, is not happy about what he sees as a ‘delay’ and is critical of the management of the Mancomunidad (Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol-Axarquia), the body responsible for this service.

Two cleaning boats will also appear off the Nerja coast as from June 15th. Méndez believes that both these actions should have been carried out much earlier, at Easter to be precise.

The Councillor recalled that two years ago, when the responsibility for marker buoys and cleaning boats lay with the Council, these projects began around Semana Santa. He added that if the Mancomunidad continues in this way, the Council will initiate the administrative procedures to recover control of these projects.

The Council does not want to see the image of Nerja tarnished by the failure of outside organisations. They’re quite capable of doing that themselves!
