The first significant forest fire of the summer in Andalucia has been extinguished after seven hectares of land was destroyed between Mijas and Alhaurin El Grande.
The fire started at around 16:00 on Monday at an old landfill site near Mijas and a section of the A-387 between km7 and km9 had to be closed. In addition, five homes near the cemetery had to be evacuated as a security measure.
Firefighters from several municipalities helped tackle the blaze,
