Village without water for three days

In Jaén, the temperature has been reaching 42 degrees by 11:00 and for the residents of the village of La Cerradura it has not been the best of times as they have suffered three days without drinking water.

The residents now have access to water for several hours each day but are being asked to be more conservative in its use.

The village is supplied with drinking water from a 33,000 litre tank which takes just six hours to empty with high use, and the water network is riddled with defects. Since February, the Council has been almost continuously carrying out repairs on the pipes as each new problem is reported.
