According to Council figures, almost twice as many people attended the various summer concerts ‘Verano en los Cangrejos’ in the Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos this year than last year, some 10,000 in total. Over half the concert attendances were in the region of 300 and, as only 200 chairs were set out each night, the Councillor for Education and Culture has promised to make improvements next year.
Some of the acts – Hados Negros, Nerja Dance Companies and Peña Nerjeña – attracted large audiences while some – Jazz, Classical, Vagalume Teatro and Date Danza for example – had fewer attendees but were highly valued.
Bars and restaurants in the area did a good trade during the performances and, as a result, an approach has been made to start the activities earlier in July next year.
