A mechanical fault caused the derailment of one of the Vélez-Málaga Tranvia trams on Friday morning, disrupting the service for around thirty minutes.
The incident occurred at 10:30 near urbanisation La Mata. The driver had already noticed that there was something wrong with the tram and was on his way to the depot when it derailed.
The derailment occurred at an intersection where a points-changing system is used to get the tram onto the correct set of rails.
No-one was injured in the incident.
