Ferrara Playa in Torrox Costa already suffering from the first storms

The first storms of autumn in Torrox Costa and, as usual, part of Ferrara Playa has been washed away to leave certain areas less than ten metres wide.

The central area near the restaurant La Mar Chica has been particularly badly hit with the beach suddenly barely ten metres wide.

Businesses and restaurant owners are none too happy with the situation as it has been a recurring problem for the past two decades. The Council, businessmen and residents have been demanding a permanent solution to the problem of beach erosion, such as breakwaters or piers.

Recently, a meeting in Madrid between members of the Council and the Directorate General of Coasts of the Ministry of Environment, it was stated that the only option to resolve the problems was to install piers and move the promenade back ten metres.

This option was opposed by both the Council and businesses in the area.
