No prize for initiative

A Massachusetts student, 17 year old Dan Depaolis, was suspended from his school after turning up dressed as a knight and riding his trusty steed.

The stunt was meant to celebrate  ‘medieval day’ during the school’s Spirit Week, with students dressing up in different themes and being awarded points for their costumes.

However, the Vice Principal of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School did not appreciate this piece of initiative, likening it to bringing a gun to school, and promptly suspended the student.

The costumed student ‘squire’ who accompanied Dan was given a one-day suspension and community service. The horse was taken to the school in a trailer and was apparently only on the campus for about five minutes.
