Copper wire recovered in Vélez-Málaga

Police in Vélez-Málaga have recovered thirty kilos of copper stolen from the public mains system in avenida de Las Naciones.

At around 04:15 on Monday morning, the police were notified that a group of four youths were tampering with an electricity box in calle Alfareros.

The police confirmed that the boxes had been tampered with and they discovered 30 kilos of copper wire hidden in a nearby park.

The youths denied involvement in the robbery and a body search proved negative, no ‘tools of the trade’ being found. As they had no prior police record, the police could only recover the stolen copper and take it back to the police station.
