Real Madrid played host to an Athletic Bilbao team which had conceded four goals in each of their last two away games. Despite a spirited performance, however, Athletic made it three in a row, losing the match 4-1.
Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed a hat-trick, one from the penalty spot, and Gonzalo Higuaín scored the fourth for Real. Llorente was the lone scorer for Athletic.
The match was not as one-sided as the scoreline suggests, however, Bilbao having a lot of the play and putting together some good moves.
The win keeps Real at the top of the pile for another week, at least.
