A healthy, newborn baby died on Sunday at the Arquitecto Marcide hospital in Ferrol after being given medication intended for the mother.
The baby was born naturally, was healthy and weighed 3 kilos but at some stage of the procedures a mistake was made and the baby was erroneously given medication intended for the mother.
The hospital has assumed responsibility for the error and has launched an investigation. They are also providing medical and psychological support for the 29 year old mother.
