CAMPO & Reach4Dance Present 2 Gala Evenings of Dance and Song

CAMPO & Reach4Dance Present 2 Gala Evenings of Dance and Song in Competa on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of December.

STARS SHINE ON CÓMPETA

TOP performers from the world of music and dance will be headlining two gala shows in Cómpeta.

We can exclusively announce that a venue has now been confirmed for the CAMPO/REACH4DANCE December production.

The Mayor of Competa has agreed to allow the new gymnasium in the Secondary School as the venue, and has also agreed the use of the stage from El Noche del Vino. “The gym is the perfect location enabling us to meet the high demand for seats,” said Ray Rowden, Director and founder of REACH4DANCE . “It also allows great sight-lines for our audience. The venue also boasts a great separate space where we will be arranging a bar and tapas service.”

An exceptional line-up of artistes has also now been confirmed. This includes four of the top graduates from Elmhurst Ballet School: Kana Minegishi, Yamato Mashiko, Jenna Josephine Caroll and Orazio Di Bella.

Direct from London’s West End, will be Matthew Powell. Matthew is currently dancing in hugely successful production Phantom of the Opera. He will be joined by Julianne Rice-Oxley, an exceptional ballerina. They will be performing a Strauss Waltz, the wedding pas de deux from Coppelia and the stunning grand pas de deux from Le Corsaire, made famous by Fonteyn and Nureyev.

The gala nights will also include some local talent: flamenco dancer, Juan Luise Heredia, who will perform two magical solo pieces; Cómpeta based singers, Lisa Edelman and Tom Sobel; plus Lee Payne, a talented tap dancer who currently is in Riverdance.

“Lee will provide two pieces which will show us the origins of this amazing dance form,” explained Ray. “ Lee is one of the best young tap artists in the business, prepare to be blown away. To provide contrast Hannah Jones, a contemporary dancer will be showcasing two pieces, one choreographed especially for Cómpeta.”

The gala organisers are keen to attract a cross cultural audience, and have enlisted the expert help of former professional dancer Inez Leniere, of Alberdini Rural Hotel. Inez has agreed to co-host the shows with Ray providing Spanish commentary.

It has also been decided to open the final Saturday afternoon rehearsal to the children of Competa primary and junior schools free of charge.

“It will be great for all the children to share in, and hopefully, be inspired by the magic of dance,” said Ray.

In line with the ethos of REACH4DANCE some of the artists will be performing for people with special needs. These free events will happen around the Malaga area, before the gala shows.

Tickets are on sale for a grand gala raffle for a flat screen 32″ HD ready television as the prize.

The gala shows main sponsors are Brogan Properties and Nerja Solutions.

All profits raised will go to a local Competa charity and Reach4Dance.

* Tickets are available from Todo Papel and Sugar and Spice in Cómpeta, as well as from Intermezzo in Torrox Costa and on the door. There is already huge interest so please get your tickets early.
