The Málaga Provincial Housing Company, EMPROVIMA, has withdrawn from the project to build twelve VPO (subsidised) houses in Las Gaviotas, next to the Enrique López Cuenca Sports Stadium.
The decision comes after a ruling by the Court of Contentious Administration in Málaga which overturned the Council plans for the site after one of the landowners filed a complaint.
The contract for the 12 houses had already been awarded to Estructuras y Vías del Sur S. L. for the amount of €1.3 million and the houses had already been allocated to local residents.
The Council is repaying the advance payments made by the twelve awardees as well as monies paid by the construction company.
The Council has now offered a new plot of land to EMPROVIMA for the construction of eleven homes.
