The residents of Torrox Park, mainly foreign retirees and families with young children, have voiced their objections to the construction of a mortuary in a residential area.
The main argument being put forward is that a mortuary is an industrial facility and should therefore be located in an industrial area or near one of the cemeteries.
The Council has said it will study the objections although they have no other land available for the mortuary at the current time.
There have been similar protests against the building of a mortuary in a residential area in Torre del mar.
