In Sevilla, the MetroCentro tram no longer needs to use the pantograph on the section of avenida de la Constitución between Archivo de Indias and Plaza Nueva and the unsightly overhead cables will be removed at Easter.
The tram uses the advanced ACR (Quick Charge Accumulator) system developed by CAF, the manufacturers of the trams. At one of the stops the tram charges its batteries and in twenty seconds it has sufficient power to cover the distance between Archivo de Indias and Plaza Nueva.
