The Local Police in Algeciras have just taken delivery of twenty-one electric scooters which will reduce energy consumption, reduce costs and result in a reduction of 20 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
The scooters, from the German manufacturer Vectrix, have a performance comparable to petrol bikes but with a 90% energy saving. They have a top speed of 110 kph, run on batteries which can be plugged in to the normal mains and have a range of around 100 kilometres.
With a cost of €0.40 in energy per recharge, they not only save energy but also costs. Added benefits include powered reverse, lower maintenance, comfort and ample space for helmets and other items.
