On Sunday March 27th there are now two official inaugurations, Plaza de España and avenida alcalde Antonio Villasclaras.
At 12:30, it is the inauguration of avenida alcalde Antonio Villasclaras, at the roundabout at the junction with the Lidl supermarket, with the unveiling of a plaque to Antonio Villasclaras, mayor of Nerja from 1983 to 1987.
Starting at 20:00 is the official inauguration of the Plaza de España with a concert by the Municipal Band and the Alminares Choir, the ceremonial raising of the Spanish flag and finally, a free concert by local singer Antonio Cortes.
During today, the final touches were being put to Plaza de España, such as erecting the flagpole ready for the ceremonial flag-raising.
Either the surrounding buildings are askew or the flagpole isn’t quite ‘true’. Assuming it is the flagpole.

As far as I know the roundabout is not “new” it was already there, and quite attractive it was too, untill they ripped up all the trees to put a lump of concrete with an irrelevent name on it. Just about the biggest waste of money I have seen yet. (and there are quite a few to choose from here in Nerja……
