Bus strike resumes in Jerez

Workers of the Urbanos Amarillos bus service in jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz province, are back on strike again this week after providing a normal service during the Spanish Moto GP weekend.

The strike action relates to the non-payment of wages as well as a few other items relating to the breach of the collective agreement.

According to the Mayor of Jerez, Pilar Sánchez, the February wages have been paid in their entirety to the concessionaire. According to the workers, they have not received the full amount for February.

Urbanos Amarillos took over the concession for the local bus service last November after the previous company, Cojetusa, stopped through non-payment of debts. Urbanos Amarillos have not yet signed the final agreement for the concession, this being scheduled for later this month.

The strikers plan to continue their protests until April 15th unless an agreement is reached. A minimum service of one bus per route is in operation.
