Population of Andalucia increases

Andalucia now has a population of 8,415,480, up by 0.5% on 2010, according to provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The registered population of Andalucia rose two-tenths above the national average of 0.3% and remains both the most populated region and the region where the population gre in absolute terms.

The autonomous enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta were the two cities which saw the largest growth in relative terms, by 3.2% and 2.0% respectively.

While the overall population of Andalucia grew by 0.5%, the foreign population increase by 3.3% and the 727,176 foreign residents account for 8.6% of the total population of the region. This trend is contrary to that recprded in the rest of the country where the foreign population shrank by 0.3% compared to 2010.

The largest foreign populations in Andalucia are Moroccans (117,865), British (117,067) and Rumanian (99,472).

There are 4.16 million men and 4.25 million women registered in Andalucia, with 3.6 million people aged between 16 years and 44 years, 2 million aged between 45 years and 64 years, 1.4 million are under 15 years of age and 1.3 million are over 65 years of age.
