A gang of thieves broke into fifteen cars parked in two private garages in urbanisation Los Serbales in the El Cantal Alto area of Rincón de la Victoria, damaging many vehicles as well as plundering them.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, owners waking up the next morning to find their vehicles damaged or items stolen.
There have been several incidents in the area, including one in February when five storage rooms were broken into and numerous items stolen. The Guardia Civil has announced that it will increase surveillance in the area but many locals are thinking of hiring a private security firm. Their argument is that one day, one of the residents may go down to the garage and encounter the thieves in the act and this could lead to serious problems.
The residential complex consists of 91 homes and penthouses.
