A judge at the Court of Contentious Administration in Lleida has ordered the removal of 40 wind turbines from a wind farm in Serra del Tallat.
The decision represents a victory for the ecological group Ipcena and other organisations against the Council of Vallbona de les Monges.
The plaintiffs originally appealed against the granting of a license for the wind farm but this was rejected as the project was in compliance with the law. However, the judge has now ruled that because the project was carried out without a prior municipal general plan for the reservation of land for this purpose, the building permit is null and void.
The judge has ordered the demolition of the mills and the replanting of vegetation in the area.
