A family from Almogía, Málaga province, has denounced the Hospital Carlos Haya in Málaga for negligence after their 17 year old son died during a heart operation.
According to the lawyer for the family, the youth allegedly died as a result of a malfunction of one of the machines being used during bypass surgery. The youth suffered from cardiovascular disease and had undergone two other operations in the past.
The hospital has expressed its regrets for the death of the youth but maintains that it acted properly at all times and that all protocols were met. The hospital also says that the family were informed at all times of the risks involved in the surgery.
