Another 43 illegal immigrants intercepted off the coast of Andalucia

Over two hundred illegal immigrants attempted to make their way to Spain over the weekend, including one small group in a toy boat, and the unwanted arrivals continued on Monday.

At around 21:30 on Monday night, the authorities received information that a boat carrying 43 illegal immigrants, including two children, was heading towards the Granada coast after leaving from Betoya in Morocco.

The boat was intercepted by the Marine Rescue vessel ‘Salvamar Hamal’ and a Guardia Civil patrol boat and the occupants, all said to be in good health, were taken to the port of Motril.

The immigrant boat was just six metres in length and powered by a 25 hp motor.
