José Manuel R. A., a 47 year old Nerja resident, died on Saturday afternoon while paragliding near Calaceite, Torrox.
José Manuel R. A. was paragliding with a friend in an area authorised for free flight when, shortly after takeoff, the glider plummeted to the ground from a height of around twenty metres. He died within minutes, despite the best efforts of his friend to save him.
Strong, gusty winds are one reason being considered as the cause of the accident.
