The provincial Department of Agriculture and Fisheries in Málaga has lifted the ban on shellfish fishing after 42 days of closure.
Analysis of the fisheries show that the levels of toxins in shellfish and bivalves has declined and that such items are now safe to eat.
It is anticipated that 46 boat owners and 90 crew will be applying for government assistance as a result of the closure although at the present time, only three such requests have been received by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
