Juan José Cortés, father of Mari Luz Cortés, and four other people were arrested early this morning in El Torrejón, Huelva, after a family discussion ended with guns being drawn and shots fired.
The incident took place at around 02:00 in El Torrejón, home to many members of the Cortés family, when a family discussion ended with shots being fired and one man needing treatment for a wound to the head.
Juan José Cortés is widely known as the father of Mari Luz Cortes, the young girl murdered in January 2008 by paedophile Santiago del Valle his sister Rosa. Following his daughter’s death, Cortés travelled throughout the country to gain sufficient signatures for a petition to amend the Criminal Code to incorporate a reviewable life sentence.
Cortés is also a member and pastor of the Evangelical Church and a PP advisor on judicial matters.
