55 arrests in connection with the sale of counterfeit drugs

An operation codenamed ‘Pangea IVl’ has resulted in 55 people being arrested or investigated in 48 countries in connection with the sale of counterfeit drugs over the internet.

According to Interpol, around 13,500 websites devoted to selling the counterfeit products have been shut down. In addition, 8,000 packages of drugs containing 2.4 million pills have been seized.

The drugs in question include steroids, cancer treatment drugs, drugs to counter depression, slimming pills, dietary supplements and drugs to treat epilepsy.
