Yet another group of politicians in trouble as the Mayor of Aledo (Murcia), Simón Alcaraz, and Municipal Secretary Rosario Hita are amongst seven people arrested today in connection with alleged corruption relating to urban planning.
The charges relate to crimes allegedly committed from 2007 onwards in the municipality of Librilla, Murcia.
The detentions and raids on various public offices and private homes are part of an ongoing investigation, Operación Biblioteca, into alleged crimes of bribery, prevarication, forgery and illegal negotiations carried out by public officials.
The Mayor of Aledo has been in office for twenty years.
