The Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), convened a special meeting of spokesmen to discuss plans for making savings and increasing revenues in order to avoid the municipality going bankrupt in 2012.
The Mayor wants to save between €1.2 and €1.4 million by reducing the amount paid for rents, cutting back on expenditure for fiestas and festivals and by making energy savings.
In addition, the plan is to raise the IBI (rates) from 0.7 to 0.85%.
