Four people have been arrested in Vélez-Málaga as the alleged perpetrators of the theft of 6,000 kilos of mangoes and 2,400 kilos of avocados from various farms in the Axarquia.
The detainees are believed to be connected to seven thefts from different parts of the Axarquia since October. The detainees are all Málaga residents and are aged between 19 years and 46 years, travelling to the Axarquia to carry out their thefts.
The produce was then sold to intermediaries or via market stalls. An increase in the number of reported thefts in the area led to the police to increase surveillance and subsequently led to the arrests.
