The Nationqal Police in collaboration with the Belgian and Dutch authorities have arrested twenty people in connection with a network of drugs ‘mules’.
The detainees are 16 Spaniards, 2 Dutch and 2 Belgian nationals and they were arrested at various points throughout Europe. Police also seized 11 kilos of cocaine.
The network used a variety of means to try and smuggle the drugs from South America to Europe, including false-bottomed suitcases, hiding the drugs inside their bodies and several even taking babies and children on their trips and hiding the drugs in nappies to try and avoid detection.
One of the detainees was found to have two and a half kilos of cocaine in his body.
